Since 1924, Toastmasters International has helped millions of men and women become more confident in front of an audience. Our learn-by-doing program is sure to help you become a better speaker and leader. Why pay thousands of dollars for a seminar when you can join Toastmasters for a fraction of the cost and have fun in the process?
Irvine Toastmasters members grow through weekly participation - tackling leadership and speaking roles to further enhance leadership and public speaking abilities. Our club is comprised of 15 to 20 supportive and encouraging people who meet once a week for one-and-a-half hours. There are no instructors--members provide feedback to one another in a safe, encouraging environment. By meeting weekly, everyone has an opportunity to practice delivering impromptu speeches, presenting prepared speeches, conducting meetings and offering constructive evaluations.
At the beginning of the meeting, the club president will ask you to share with us the following: who you are, what inspired you to observe our meeting and how you found our club. At the end of the meeting the club president will ask you for your impressions of the meeting. We welcome guest participation during the impromptu "Table Topics" portion of the evening as well as casting a vote for best Table Topics, Evaluator and Prepared speakers. Guests are allowed 2-3 free visits before they are asked to join.
Don't worry! Everyone in a Toastmasters meeting was once at the level you are now. The environment is friendly and supportive, and the self-paced program allows you to build confidence with each speaking assignment. And you'll love the applause! Constructive evaluation is the heart of the Toastmasters program. Each time you give a prepared speech, an evaluator will point out strengths and suggest improvements. At first you'll be applauded for your effort; later, you'll be applauded for your skill.
